Grainau at the foot of the Zugspitze
This very nice holiday resort is located at the foot of the Zugspitze to four kilometers from the ski resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the beautiful Lake Eibsee.
The place is ideal for family holidays, both in summer and winter. Buses or Bayrische Zugspitzbahn goes to the village. Grainau, excursions can also be carried around, Fussen, Mittenwald, Oberammergau, Wies Church, Ettal Abbey and castles of Ludwig II, Linderhof, Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.
The village offers a wide choice of holiday rentals and lodgings at reasonable prices and also a choice of hotels and hostels. Two supermarkets at the entrance of the city used to go shopping on the cheap. Your host will provide a "Kurkarte" with many discounts or freebies, including the swimming pool and sauna. Several nice restaurants with local color.
